Bush's Ohio win was closer than thought
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — President Bush's victory over John Kerry in Ohio was closer than the unofficial election night totals showed, but the change is not enough to trigger an automatic recount, according to county-by-county results provided to The Associated Press on Friday.
Bush's margin of victory in the state that put him over the top in his re-election bid will be about 119,000 votes, which is smaller than the unofficial margin of 136,000, the county election board figures showed. That means Kerry drew closer by about 17,000 votes.

Voting Critics Don't Have the Numbers
The Cleveland Indymedia newswire is flooded with postings that the 2004 Presidential election was stolen. Since it is the only Indymedia up and running in Ohio and since Ohio is "the heart of it all" in this election it is getting the full treatment by self-publishers on its Newswire.
However, many of the arguments being raised are very flimsy and conjectural. They compare the election totals to various "soft" data that don't really prove the point.
My personal favorite is the one that the large numbers of Ohio voters who didn't vote at all on the Presidential line are proof that Kerry votes were stolen. Me being one of the many people who had publicly declared that I refused to vote for a pro-war candidate I find this particularly demeaning. First I was disenfranchised by not having an anti-war candidate on the ballot, then disenfranchised again by the critics who say my refusal was not valid.
The huge numbers who voted "yes" on Issue One to ban gay marriage would seem to indicate that a conservative tide was running.

Public Square
About 75 people turned up in downtown Cleveland to protest the election and give passerby’s a forum to voice their frustration with a right wing biased two party system, and a wait for up to 6hrs for people who did want to vote. After being presented with a “choice” of president Bush, (a fascist dictator) or John Kerry, (a less aggressive fascist dictator) there were plenty of angry words to go around. November 2 Election Day
Report and Photographic Proof Of Ballots Stolen By Republicans In Cincinnati
The Buckeye state is calling
With some of the usual corporate media suspects jumping the gun on the outcome of the 2004 presidential election in Ohio, many others are not so self-assured. The Bush regime leads Kerry in Ohio by some 130,650 votes, yet according to Ohio Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell, a Republican partisan no less, final results may not be counted for two weeks pending a tally of more than 135,000 provisional ballots and an unknown number of absentee ballots. Sound familiar? It should. [Read Full Article]
Reportback from Cleveland
John Tarleton
There were voting irregularities in Cleveland today though there was not the mad chaos many had forecast. I visited several polling places in Cleveland today. Turnout was heavy in spite of a steady downpour that started just as polls opened at 6;30 a.m. and continued throughout the day. [Read Full Article]

Bush Protest in Westlake
10/27/04
Pictures from the Protest

The Billionaires for Bush were at the protest (satirical street theatre) - a brief first hand account report back:
10/27/04
The Billionaires for Bush stepped out from behind the tinted limo windows and the
normally closed boardroom doors (from where we dictate legislation to our government
friends), to lend support to the George W. Bush Victory Rally in Westlake, Ohio.
Seeing three strategically placed, extremely large, and highly visible riffraff
groups of energized Kerry supporters and organized Bush protestors upon arrival, we
decided to skip hearing the enriching message from our Georgie to remind the
unwashed masses that George W. Bush is the best president that Big Money can buy.
Besides, we paid for 8 years of Bush/Cheney… Not 4 years. Of course the commoners
were enthralled with our fabulous presence and they gave us easy part as we held our
signs high: “Leave No Billionaire Behind”, “It’s A Class War, And We’re Winning!”,
KERRY-EDWARDS: Where’s the GREED?”, and “Corporations are People Too”.
Annoyingly, many Kerry supporters fervently claimed that they suffered job losses
and a decline in quality public education over the last four years. As Billionaire
winners under Bush’s economic policies, we assured all those unemployed people that
Cleveland poverty means more maids and drivers and we are certainly hiring!
After departing from the throngs of lowly Kerry supporters, the AFL CIO and Planned
Parenthood organizers, the Billionaires decided to join our well-heeled peers as
they poured from the Bush Victory Rally. Actually walking towards the tide of some
30 thousand ticketed GOP guests, four small in stature “Billionaires for Bush”
approached the swell of support with a skip in our step. As we walked against the
crowd we heard many comments about how “uplifting” George’s remarks were at the
Rally. No surprise there! We Billionaires are always uplifted when Bush lies,
because our stocks rise!
Oddly, the entirely white crowd of well-fed, well-dressed, church going,
family-types must have mistaken us for Kerry supporters because they certainly
hurled a few choice, non-Christian comments in our direction:
“Fuck you” (clever)…”Get a Job!” (Why, don’t they realize we don’t need jobs?),
“Baby Killers” (You must realize that being a Kerry supporter simply translates to
‘baby-killer’ now. It is a good way to keep the population concerned over
non-issues while we continue to create a more Billionaire-friendly America)..”You
are fat!” (hmmmm).. And “I would not want to wake up next to Theresa Heinz” (Well
darling, maybe with a few midday cocktails you might!). Also, our most dad-like
types in suits felt the need to physically block our way back to the limo. It is
understandable that a corporate dad wants to touch a Billionaire lady against
women...But in front of the wife and kids? We have more class that that. But, what
do we expect from Cleveland suburbs? We tried to explain that we were Billionaires
who, just like the middle class, want Bush back on the job for Four More Wars, but
they were so defensive of the president we just smiled and proudly carried.
Nonetheless, the confused crowd response was actually quite perfect. Clearly our
plan to reduce the quality of public education is paying off. In just a few short
years we will have our military filled with people who simply follow orders and
regurgitate 30-second sound bites. And, as long we continue to reduce environmental
standards, perhaps in another generation or two, our soldiers will have additional
limbs and digits for handling weaponry.
Yes, things are looking good for us Billionaires for Bush. Our investment in
President Bush to create a more Billionaire Friendly America is certainly paying
back in dividends! Why with all these strategic wedge issues causing hostility and
in fighting among the average population, we will certainly be able to Privatize
Everything in no time whatsoever. HUZZAH!!
pResedential Debate Coverage, What You Didnt Hear About
The United States is a very odd country. The politicians and "leaders" feign strength and freedom, even democracy. But, as we can see from the Presedential debates and history in general, that is simply not true. The debates started in Miami, Florida. This first meeting was fairly uneventful, but did raise the question of whether pResident Bush was wired his responses. The First Debate: An Inside Look | Pictures | Audio The second pResedential debate was held in St. Louis, Missouri. The St. Louis October 8th Coalition planned a full day of workshops and protests to the debates, and a good number of people came out. Presedential Candidates, Michael Badnarik (Libertarian Party) and David Cobb (Green Party) engaged in civil disobedience and attempted to enter the debates to let the American public have some kind of choice when they go to the ballot box. Discussion Thread | Audio 1, 2 | Video The last debate, in Tempe, Arizona, organized by the October 13 Alliance brought out nearly 1000 people to march. Audio | Coverage and Pictures
