The CMHA plan for the Valley View Estates
The official plan for Valley View Estates (located around w7th st and starkweather in tremont) is to begin demolition within the next 6 months to a year. Residents are being moved out beginning this month.
In place of the 243 public housing units will be 191 units, with only 95 set aside for public housing and 20 new homes. the houses will be a mix of single family and "side by side" townhouses. 8 of the houses will be available with HopeVI funding to reduce the overall cost, assuming that the HopeVI funds are aquired, and 12 will be at "market rate".
The plans, as described by Barbara Freeland of McCormack, Baron and Salazar (of St. Louis Missouri http://www.mba-development.com) include "re-grading" the site to eliminate steep hills and the planting of trees in and around the area.
The apartments will be maintained by McCormack Baron and Salazar's own on-site management organization and will include a Community and Supportive Services facility also run by McCormack Baron and Salazar's non-profit subsidiary Urban Strategies.

the "valleyview" you refer to is only one word, i dont believe that they are known as "estates" either. as for the article, i thought that there plan of "regrading" the area was funny. maybe it will be a parking lot.
