Consolidated march crosses Euclid, police begin to stir.
The three marches which had previously converged at Frieberger field moved around to Euclid, and rallied in front of Severance Hall. From there some of the protesters began to cross Euclid Ave., but where met with opposition from the Police. Using their sirens and cars, they attempted to move the people out of the street. As this was taking place, other police pulled up alongside in unmarked cars and opened their trunks to reveal full riot gear. At that point they began to finish dressing in their riot gear, while the protest slowly moved east on Euclid again.

Phylum Forest,
There's no reason to put on riot gear for a peaceful march. I watched the whole thing, I helped with the reports. They had between twenty and thirty cops armed with batons and shields to deal with maybe 100 people (at the largest) armed with signs and opinions.
In addition, its not like the report you're responding to even implied the cops were over-reacting, its just what happened. There were cops, they put on riot gear, there are pictures to prove it.
I'll ask you a question, do you really think the cops were ever in danger? Explain to me how the cops who are always armed with handguns, who have shotguns and assault rifles in every cruiser and potentially hundreds of officers for backup, were threatened by 100 protestors with cardboard signs?
Did the cops put on riot gear when Bush supporters crossed the street? No, they welcomed them. Did the cops follow the pro-GOP rallies as they marched, no they cheered them. OOOHHH those scary enlightened liberals.
Oh and I loved the extra exclamation points, made everything you wrote seem so important!!!!!!
Dont be silly
