About fifteen individuals participated in the Gender Bloc feeder march. The Gender Bloc later joined the We Are #1! bloc and the Anti-War bloc to march to Freiberger field. The march was turned back at Euclid Avenue by an estimated dozen police officers in riot gear.
"We have three feeder marches. They're going to converse and have a party," explained bloc leader Jacqueline Greene. "One with drum brigades and dancing."
While waiting, participants discussed their reasons for joining the march.
"The government is ignoring us. If we don't stand up, nobody is going to stand up for us," said Winnie Lai, a student at CWRU, on why she joined the march.
Others had similar views. Said protester Lee Thompson, "The Bush cliche, they're talking about banning abortion." She spoke of the Bush administration making "this into a Christian fascist nation" as her reason for marching.
The march was not just a pro-women's rights march. It was also meant to campaign for gender rights.
Sabina Hossain remarked, "Gender issues have been an ongoing battle."
After reaching Freiberger field after leaving Euclid, the bloc dispersed around 8:30PM, mostly to mill about or watch the Debates.
