Trumble County Courthouse 9am Monday

Lyndal Kimble, a Warren man who was brutally assaulted by the Warren Police will go on trial for an assaulting an officer charge he received for being brutalized. Valentines day will be the first day of his criminal trial for that charge.

Kimble's assault was documented in a video which got national airplay. About a year ago the cops invaded his home, assaulted him again, and confiscated the original copy of the video tape, as well as confiscating the camera it was shot on from his neighbor. The camera has since been returned but the Warren police claim to have no knowledge of the missing video. Though the prosecutor, defense attorney, and media all have multiple copies of the tape, the prosecutor is trying to make it inadmissable on the basis of it not being the original copy.

For this banning of the tape to be allowed, and for the ludicrous assault charge to not be shown for what it is, is unnaceptable. The Warren Police in complicity with the city government are guilty of numerous human rights violations. They routinely conduct unlawful strip searches and beatings of people without compunction or constraint.. If this case is buried it will be a great blow to the struggle against police brutality.
