Citizenship Question, Is Questioned In Oakland:
February 12, 2006
Oakland CA-Oakland's citizenship question is coming under fire across the nation as people ask; Why are U.S. CITIZENS being forced to PROVE their CITIZENSHIP to keep a roof over their head?
Housing Authorities across the nation have been forcing U.S. CITIZENS to prove their CITIZENSHIP before their being allowed to relocate to another location.
The citizenship question, raises questions about ones birth rights as an American citizen and all that pertains to.
It questions ones loyalty to this country, and most unfairly questions the Patriotism of all the veterans that served to defend the citizenship rights of all U.S. CITIZENS.
U.S. citizens have the right to move where they want, and should not have to prove their citizenship to anyone before being allowed to relocate to another city or state.
Currently, this "Citizenship Question" issue hit the streets in the San Francisco Bay View, Street Spirit, Poor Magazine, Street Sheet, Mindfully.Org and will be discussed on KPFA's Morning Show in the near very future.

Housing Authority abuses citizenship question

Oakland’s poor have been targeted by the Oakland Housing Authority for a massive investigation that violates federal law.
In response, a lawsuit (Case No. CO5-0523) has been filed against the housing authority which seeks injunctive and declaratory relief to halt the demands for photo ID and a birth certificate. Under federal law that governs HUD and housing authorities, tenants are not required to show those documents to prove they are eligible for housing assistance programs.
