Akron Food Not Bombs' not-quite-regular newsletter Free Soup includes stories about the on-going pillage of Iraq, the "Ask FNB" column (about composting), corporate advertising/brainwashing, the war-profiteering Lockheed-Martin corporation in Akron, the "vegetable of the last six months", and the Akron anti-panhandling ordinance. The newsletter will also (hopefully) be available in your favorite places of rest, revolution, and food, too. Feel free to print it yourself (on ledger-size paper) and distribute it far-and-wide. As always, please give us feedback, kind words, mutual aid (food and cash is always welcome), any of your spare/volunteer time, and other righteous oddities.
Akron FNB is part of the larger FNB movement that demonstrates by its actions that society has some pretty screwed-up priorities--billions for war-making and corporate welfare and only a fraction for things that help real people (education, food, health care, housing, etc). We collect food every week, cook it, and share meals with anyone who is hungry as a statment of how we think the world should really be: generosity, solidarity, cooperation, and collective decision-making.
