Lake Superior is near a record low level due to climate change

The level of Lake Superior is currently 11 inches lower than it was a year ago and is now less than one inch above the lowest October average level of record (1918-2005) which ocurred in 1925 - and 17 inches below the average October level of record.

Hydrologic effects of climate change:
- More evaporation
- More transpiration from longer growing seasons
- Less inflow to the lakes

The note at the bottom of the graph should read:

First 22 months are Jan 2004 - Oct 2006, last 15 months (black) are Oct 1925 - Dec 1926.
