"Saturn's Hyperion: a moon with odd craters":

(APOD's illustration at the link above is so utterly ludicrous it makes me cry with laughter. doesn't NASA have any quality control regading the fake images it produces of the "Cassini probe of Saturn"?)

Study finds no cancer-marijuana connection:

"The largest study of its kind has unexpectedly concluded that smoking marijuana, even regularly and heavily, does not lead to lung cancer..."

(folks, let's all cure cancer by smoking some pot now.)

Nadal and Federer have both advanced to the fourth round. There are just eight players left in the tournament.

(Federer: Playing for a Grand Slam, an unbelievable sports achievement in 2007.
Nadal: Playing for his third-straight FO title; a record-shattering pace on clay for this 20 year-old.
Nadal is spectacular on this surface. Federer is playing on his least favorite surface.)

btw, Fed's remaining draw looks prohibitive:
Robredo v. Volandri. Volandri recently beat Fed.
Davydenko/Nalbandian/Canas survivor. If Canas, has beated Fed twice this season alone. Nalbandian is a confirmed threat to Federer. Finally, no one wants to play Human Metronome Davydenko on clay.

Tennis bohemian Marat Safin's latest girlfriend:

The Valet (2006):

(Francis Verber's 'The Valet' works on almost all cylinders. this is a wonderful French romantic farce, featuring (once again) living legend Daniel Auteuil, Gad Elmaleh, total babe Alice Taglioni, Kristen Scott Thomas and Virginie Ledoyen. The French have superb talent in front and behind the film cameras. French romantic farce is the only cinema worth watching today.

Some peeves with The Valet: i don't like the title sequence. Also, I don't think that Verber handled direction that well. Also, much of the material is familiar. If you can get by these small hurdles you may find this as ejoyable as I did. I particularly like Verber's writing. He makes it seem inevitable that a parking valet, having had his marriage proposal to Ledoyan rejected, is suddenly living with a supermodel (Taglioni, who looks the part and acts well). This is why we watch cinema; to escape reality. I love the valet's twist of fate.

I found The Valet to be a joy, 85 fun minutes with actors and a writer i have come to know and appreciate very well. it must have been great fun putting this one together.
