The Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten created the furor over depictions of Mohammed by publishing a series of 12 drawings after a local author said he was unable to find any artist willing to depict Mohammed for his upcoming illustrated book. The publication of the images in Jyllands-Posten has been condemned around the Islamic world, and has led to the burning of embassies and a boycott of Denmark by Muslim nations.

Victor David Hanson gets to the essence of the current conflict with radical Islam. He writes:

I would quibble with this point, though:
The common theme is not the Koran, but the constant pathology of the Middle East — gender apartheid, polygamy, religious intolerance, tribalism, no freedom, a censored press, an educational system of brainwashing rather than free inquiry — that lends itself to the next cult to explain away failure and blame the West, which always looms as both whore and Madonna to the Arab Street.
I wouldn't have let the Koran off so lightly. I'd have no quibble if VDH had written instead:

Osama bin Ladin's fatwa of 1996 is full of references to the Koran and Islamic teaching to justify war on the West.

It's time for the rest of us, who DO know the difference between right and wrong, to tell the world that these "outraged" idiots are too pathetic to warrant any sympathy from the rest of us.

According to an article in the Algemeen Dagblad, the parliamentary fraction leader of the CDA (Christian-Democratic Appeal) in the Hague is begging Geert Wilders to not go through with his plans to publish a movie critical of the Quran and of Islam.

Pieter van Geel is worried that showing the film will have serious consequences in certain parts of the world.
[Both Hamas and the Taliban have already threatened to target Dutch entities outside the Netherlands, and Muslims in Europe have already spoken in terms of rioting.]

Mr. Pieter van Geel is also a coward and opportunist. I would have thought that the Dutch had had enough of cowardice and opportunism during World War II, when almost their entire governmental bureaucracy co-operated with the Germans (as did also millions of private citizens). But cowardice and opportunism seem to have survived quite well in the Dutch psyche (as demonstrated, for instance, at Srebrenica), and must positively thrive among their politicians. The CDA, it will be remembered, consists of rival religious factions who have put aside their deep-seated need to burn each other at the stake in order to grab a share of governmental pie. Showing how much they have thrown their beliefs out of the door, they have also vetted Muslims and Hindus as their reps in the parliament, and in local councils - thus establishing that even the Christian part of their party's name is a sham.

Think of the CDA as being a bunch of poltroons who believe in religion as a mechanism, though they may not actually be capable of believing in a deity.
[Plus, of course, many good old fashioned anti-Semites, and quite a number of collaborators.]

In a previous post I mentioned that I am in a near-permanent state of fury at the Dutch and their idiotic opinions. Let me codicilize that by saying that while I do not agree with Geert Wilders on the whole, I have no problem with him saying what he thinks, and I wholeheartedly applaud his plan to show his movie - whether the Quran is a fascistoid book as reprehensible as Mein Kampf, inspiration for violence and terrorism, and a dangerous influence on weak minds, as he avers, is a point that certainly ought to be discussed. And what better venue for such a discussion than one of the world's most liberal democracies? The Netherlands is rightly proud of their tolerant, progressive, and pragmatic society, and looks back on several centuries of having been better than the rest of the world. How sad it would be if all that is to be proven a sham by their caving in to Muslim blackmail.

Having seen much of the intellectual inheritance of the Western World dealt with ungently by both our own extremists and the whackjobs in the Islamic ummah, I see no reason to hold-off on either Das Kapital (a nearly-unreadable tract by a profoundly disturbed intellectual-manqué) or the Quran (a series of dubious revelations and diktats by a manipulative driveller of questionable morals and ethics). Or anybody else's sacred writings.
Either stuff like this gets hashed out in the marketplace of ideas, or, in the interests of preserving our own intellectual inheritance, we will have to fight the barbarians back from the doorstep of Rome.

Putting pressure on Geert Wilders, as Mr. van Geel and many other Dutch politicals are doing, proves that the barbarians already have sympathizers within the gates - or that some citizens are willing to allow the forces of intolerance and fanaticism to dictate terms. It does not speak of a nation confident in its own culture or willing to defend its own values.

Muslims may not like what Wilders says about Islam. What they have said about Christianity and Judaism is worse than comparable. How odd that more of them choose to live among us than we among them.

Our right to freedom of speech is MORE IMPORTANT than their pointless collection of MYTHS FABLES ANDS SUPERSTITIONS.

Iraqi Expert on Islamic Law Calls to Allow Young Girls to Get Married: In Islamic Countries, Girls Get Their Periods at the Age of 8-10.

Following are excerpts from an interview with Dr. Abd Al-Hamid Al-'Ubeidi, an Iraqi expert on Islamic law, which aired on Al-Rafidein TV on March 14, 2008:

Dr. Abd Al-Hamid Al-'Ubeidi: There is no minimum marriage age for either men or women in Islamic law. The law in many countries permits girls to marry only from the age of 18. This is arbitrary legislation, not Islamic law. Why? Because there might be cases in which it is impossible to keep the girl [single] until the age of maturity.

For example, in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Serbs killed many Albanian Muslims, and there are many mass graves there. [Muslim] families fled from that war, and so did small children, who were not yet at the age of marriage. But if a man takes such a girl in, he might desire her, and eventually commit a sin, even though his intentions were noble. So he can formally marry her, but without having sex with her. She will remain like that until she grows up, and then someone will ask to marry her, or he will find her a husband – this happens in many Islamic countries with girls from Bosnia-Herzegovina – and when he finds her a husband, he will divorce her, so that she can marry again. In such a case, there should be no waiting period. So there is no need for the girl to be of age.

Most of the time we act according to what is acceptable to most people, and indeed, most men do not marry a girl until she is of age. In some Islamic countries, the age of maturity can be 8 or 10 years. In Yemen, a girl might get her period at the age of 8. In cold countries, such as Russia, Belarus, Scandinavia, New Zealand, Canada, and so on, a girl might not reach maturity until she is 22 years old. She might not get her period until then. Therefore, the greatness of Islamic law is manifest in the fact that marriage is not just for pleasure. True, it is the basic objective for marriage, but there are some cases that require solutions.

Many criminals, the enemies of Islam, ask: "How could the Prophet Muhammad, at 52 years of age, marry 'Aisha when she was only 8 years old, and consummate the marriage when she was 9 years old?" I say to them: People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Why do you permit your young girls to fornicate? They consider it one of their liberties. Therefore, in these stupid countries, you rarely find girls aged 10 or 12 who are still virgins. They permit this. They have even legislated laws stating that if a girl is under the age of 18, and her girlfriend [sic] or whatever has had sex with her, she has the right to have an abortion. How can you permit the outcome without accepting the cause? Why do you allow your girls to have sex and say this is an individual liberty? It is okay to fornicate with girls there or force them to have sex, and so on, and they have the right to have an abortion. If you permit all this before the age [of 18], without a marriage contract and without any legal grounds – how come you forbid marriage?

65.4 “If you divorce your (child) wife before she reaches menstruation age her idda is three months”.

According to this aya a Muslim man can marry (and have sex with) even a one day old infant girl.

ISLAMIC AUTHORITIES PROMOTE IT

There is no argument on this point among Islamic authorities whether shia or sunni. They all agree that a Muslim man can have sex with baby girl.

This is what Imam Khomeini, the top shia authority says:

“A Muslim man can have sexual pleasure with a little girl as young as a baby. But he should not penetrate her vaginally, however he can sodomize her”. (Tehriro vasyleh, fourth edition, Qom, Iran, 1990)

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:
It was said to the Prophet, "Won't you marry the daughter of Hamza?" He said, "She is my foster niece (brother's daughter). "

Prophet: “Allah had shown her to me in my dreams, that was Allah’s indication for me to marry her, I am helpless in this matter”.
