Sudhama Ranganathan
2009-06-08 3:21 AM
The presidential elections of 2008 were about many things. We wanted someone who could be trusted with the economy. We were tired of pouring money into the Iraq war especially after learning we had invaded the country based on false pretenses. The status quo failed us, we desired something new and wanted a leader we believed reflected changed times. (image/jpeg)

London Bridges
2009-04-24 8:04 AM
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa hired Ed Boks the Director of Animal Services without checking out his references. He did not know that Boks had just been sued for racial discrimination and unlawful termination a month before he hired him. When the City was apprised of the lawsuit in January 2006, Boks told the Mayor that the lawsuit "had no merit." Antonio did not investigate and took him at his word. Judge Kimba Wood in New York has ruled otherwise. (image/jpeg + 5 comments)

2008-12-19 5:49 AM Given the recent decision by the 100 or so UFPJ delegates to reject a spring 2009 unified protest against Washington's war and to move away from protest politics that might be seen as against Obama (the future face of Washington's policies), it might be time for the antiwar rank and file that have appeared by the tens of thousands at protests in DC and elsewhere to create a new movement that does want to end the occupations and wars before the end of 2009. It is a pool of corruption that is lapping too close to the Bush family, from Watergate to the criminal drugs-for-arms in Central America, to the assassination of President Kennedy. Bush and McCain could lose Florida especially if the Democrats can uncover that pool... (image/jpeg + 1 comment)

2008-10-17 1:41 AM
The country is now preparing to elect a new President and as all our citizens consider their choices, they are confronted with the numbing denial by both Obama and McCain that the Iraq war is Illegal. “Why are Obama and McCain discussing the terrifying idea of a draft” Americans are asking, when “it is your sworn constitutional duty to call for an end to this and future Illegal Wars,” and then, a draft is clearly un-necessary? ROTC Get Out, Stay Out! Obama Wants You to Serve Imperialism
Revolution no. 5
2008-09-25 3:50 AM Barack Obama dropped a bomb on his young enthusiasts at Columbia University on September 11. The heavily Democratic crowd booed McCain when he called for the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) to be brought back to campus (it was driven out in 1969 by protests against the Vietnam war). Liberal students expected a different answer from Columbia alum Obama, but the forum was a symphony of agreement as both candidates campaigned for expanding the military and pledged their enthusiastic support to U.S. imperialism. That should have been the tip-off for anyone who hadn't figured it out by then: Obama is no "peace candidate" but like McCain he is a certified imperialist war candidate. (text/html)
