WKYC-TV 3 reports

HUDSON -- Hundreds of Hudson High School students walked out of class Tuesday morning in support of their principal.

Students marched to the Hudson Board of Elections to protest Monday's board meeting when the school board voted not to renew Roger Howard's contract.

He'd been principal for three years.

Students chanted, held signs and protested in support of Howard.

Police, who used pepper spray to control the crowd, took some students into custody.

Students marched back to class around 11 a.m.

Both students arrested are juveniles - one charged with failure to disperse and the young man who climbed the tree charged with inciting.

They're expected to go through a diversion program with the police department to keep it out of court so they won't have a record.

The police department is conducting an investigation to make sure the use of force was justified.

The school district is also looking into the incident, but thus far hasn't disciplined any students.

What A Joke!
by jes Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at 5:12 PM

I was there when we walked out. The cops "said" that we were throwing snow balls at them. i was right at the front when they started pepper spraying us. I did not get hit, but jordon did. they did this for nothing, there was no threat to them at all.
